Framed: Step Into Art Exhibit, Bay Area Discovery Museum

If you are in the area and have the opportunity, I highly suggest you take your little ones to the Bay Area Discover Museum in Sausalito to play in the “Framed:  Step into Art” exhibit, which will be on display until September 8th, 2013.  We’re fortunate, in that this is this is the second time we’ve been able to check out this great exhibit.  It was on display a few years ago at the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose, and my son had a lot of fun in it then, when he was three.  It’s a great way to introduce little kids to famous works of art.  Here’s information about the show, from the Bay Area Discover Museum website…

“Step into famous paintings and experience art like never before in our newest traveling exhibit, Framed: Step into Art™. Enter a world where paintings leap off the canvas and become a large interactive environment for children and families to explore. Experience art from the inside out as children and families go camping in the Canadian Rockies from John Singer Sargent’s Camp at Lake O’Hara, add a flower to Diego Rivera’s fresco for a celebration, and enjoy a meal in Grant Wood’s Dinner for Threshers. Children can also enter the colorful creative world of Clementine Hunter’s Big Chicken, pose as Mona Lisa or curate their own gallery. Art and make believe come alive in this exhibit where children can literally step into famous works of art.”

I love this photo of my son, “stepping into” John Singer Sargent‘s Camp at Lake O’Hara painting…
