Photos from a hike in January at Redwood Regional Park… where I became “lost in the details.” My second take on the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Lost in the Details.
For more information (and more photos) regarding the ladybug clusters, see my post.. Ladybug Clusters: Redwood Regional Park
Amazing pics ~ especially the lady bugs! It’s good to find another weekly photo challenger! I haven’t come across many, yet. 🙂

Maybe, but I think they are just trying to stay warm. 🙂

The ladybug picture is amazing, if a little creepy.

My five-year-old was very creeped out by the clusters. 🙂 He’s since told me that one ladybug at a time is enough.

I saw a similar group of ladybugs this year. Amazing to see so many in one place.

At Lake Mille Lacs in Minnesota the ladybugs would congregate like that on the rocks by the shore. And people don’t believe me that they would bite! I was a little girl and I was pretty afraid of them. But after we stopped going up there for the summer weekends, I learned to like them in ones and twos.

I believe you! But I’m not going to test it. We’re OK with one or two crawling on my arm, but more than that is too much. The clusters are pretty to look at, though!

Oh.my.word. Those ladybugs! I have never seen anything like it before! I called my young son over to take a look and we are both mesmerised. Will definitely be checking out the other post. Thank you and amazing shots. Sharon

Glad you and your son enjoyed them! My son likes the photos I took of our visit to see the ladybugs, but when we were actually there, he was kind of freaked out. He was terrified to walk on the trail, because he didn’t want to step on any… and it would have been impossible not to step on them. Ladybugs were everywhere!

in the uk we call these ladybirds. there are lots of rhymes and stories about them – but the native species are suffering from an invasion of much bigger european ladybirds. How safe are the ladybugs you photographed? nicola http://homemadekids.wordpress.com

Yes, ladybugs are facing similar challenges here. 😦 I don’t know the impact on this group that clusters in Redwood Regional, though.

I love Ladybugs!!! 🙂 As a kid I created a little habitat to keep them in (after thorough research) and then I would release them back to their home after a few days of feeding them 🙂
