🙂 Oakland zoo is one of the best, the animals actually look like they are enjoying themselves. I have been in some really horrible ones (the one in Moldova, with a tiger or what is it a lion in a tiny cage comes to mind). Makes me what to go there some time soon.
I have very mixed emotions about zoos in general, but Oakland Zoo is definitely a great day out. I love the retro rides in the amusement park area, and the kids love the train.
I totally understand the mixed feelings. Just isn’t right to have those wild animals caged up. They should be out running free in their native habitats. But then, with what’s going on in the wild, zoos can actually protect some species and help educate the public about these endangered animals.
